On the 24th of June a troubled family reported.

That there was a baby Beech marten in need of help on the stairs of a private house near Rannu, in Tartu County. The european Beech marten was full of parasites, undercooled, dehydrated and had difficulty breathing. In addition, he didn’ t use one rear leg. The animal got warmed up and was given saline to compensate the fluid loss.
In addition, it was also given antibiotics. The animal slowly started to eat. At first it had trouble eating, because of its stuffed nose, but the animal was brave and handled it well. The Beech marten quietly began to recover and got more independent and more angrier. In the outdoor cage, where there was almost no contact with humans, it begun to be frightened by them as it’s appropriate to the wild animals. By the end of the treatment it had recovered so much, that it was time to leave the cage door open for the night and the animal could go back to the forest again.
