Meet Silver One-eye the hedgehog!

On the 23rd of august we received a message: a tiny, injured baby hedgehog has been found. He was transported quickly by the person who found him to our volunteer Liisa. Turned out that the warm night had attracted flies, who had layed eggs into the wounds of the hedgehog. With a warm summer weather it’s only a matter of hours before the eggs will hatch and turn into fly larvae. Bit of work with tweezers and the wounds were clean and treatment could begin. Unfortunately Silver had lost an eye, but he healed fast. The tiny hedgehog who weighed only 300g is now almost 1kg and killing bugs (video in the comments), who will go back to freedom for an independent life in the spring.
